Some of the medal winners in the U14 Girls age group at the Craughwell Community Games 2015

A very successful Craughwell Community Games ran off last Monday with over 100 children taking part. For the first time, the Games were held in Crinnage at the Astroturf, GAA training grounds and Craughwell AC’s new athletics field. The day kicked off with the preschool and U6 races which were held in the astroturf and were followed swiftly by the U8 60m and U10 60m hurdles. Down then to the GAA fields for the 100m, 200m, 600m and 800m races and off to the athletics grounds for the throwing events while the long jump and triple jump were held back at the Astroturf. It’s wonderful to have such great facilities locally and hopefully next year we might be sprinting 100m on tartan on the athletics grounds.

Results of the day are attached to this article. Well done to all who participated and best of luck to all of the qualifiers for the Galway finals which will be held in Ballinderreen on Sunday 31st May and Monday 1st June. The long jump, high jump and triple jump will be held the previous Thursday evening in Dangan (28th May).
