Craughwell junior and senior athletes dominated the Galway Track & Field Championships which were held over 2 days recently in Dangan. Sinead Treacy led the way with 3 Galway titles in 100m (12.79), 200m (25.87) and long jump (5.08m) while several athletes picked up a brace of titles including Dearbhaile Walsh 3000m (12.20.00) and 800m (2.36.60), Conor Duggan 100m (11.05) and 200m (22.80), and Peter O’Sullivan 1500m (4.13.28) and 10000m (35.44.00).

Cathriona Farrell recorded a season’s best of 1.75m when taking the high jump title (1.75m), while there were fine performances and Galway titles also for Damien O’Boyle 5000m (15.41.00), Sarah Finnegan triple jump (9.77m), Peadar Harvey 800m (2.02.92), and Aidan Conneely long jump (6.07m). The men’s 4x100m team was won by the Craughwell quartet of Conor Duggan, Aidan Conneely, Peadar Harvey and Rob Hogan in a time of 47.07, just one-hundredth of a second away from a club record.

There was an impressive performances also from Ollie Mullins who placed second in the 10000m having won the Galway Half-marathon Championships a day earlier in Monivea.
