All of us are glued to the TV these days - this Olympics has been just unbelievable viewing for sports fans.  One of the many highlights for athletics fans came last saturday when Jessica Ennis won the Heptathlon, followed by a superb race in the 10,000m by Mo Farragh and Galen Rupp.  I don't know a whole lot about multi-eventing, but I just looked up Ennis's pbs there and she is really an amazing athlete.  If you compare her pbs with the Irish records set by event specialists you get:

Irish NR
Jessica Ennis PB
 High Jump 1.95m 1.95m
 Long Jump  6.60m 6.51m
 50.1 47.49m
 Shot Putt
 16.99 14.79m
 100m h
 12.65 12.54s
 60m h
 7.84 7.87s
 60m 7.30 7.36s
 200m 23.02 22.83s
 800m 2:002:07

Pretty impressive!! When you look at her size (pictured here with some throwers) it's particularly amazing to me when you look at her size that she has equalled the Irish national record in the high jump.  Also I was amazed to see that she has a better outdoor pb than our own Derval O'Rourke, who is probably ireland's top track athlete over the past 10 years.
