Saturday last saw the first running of the Kilconeiron 5 mile road race in aid of Bóthar. Eleven Craughwell athletes made the short hop to the newest local event on the now loaded racing calendar. I have to say (read on for more)

but for the breeze it would have been quite a fast course whilst still a challenging route through some very scenic &undulating lanes, I’m certain it will become a very popular annual event as it was so well organised, top marks to all involved.

The men’s race went to Kenneth Rodgers of ST Cronans AC closely followed by Ian Egan of GCH 2nd and Johnny Lane of Craughwell AC took 3rd place with an impressive return to form after a tough cross-country season for him. Nice work Johnny and  great early signs for the road racing season ahead.

The ladies race was won by Ann Carter of Athenry AC, posting her second 5 mile victory in as many weeks showing great fitness and returning to winning ways after a long bout of injuries-Great to see you in this form so early in the season too Anne .2nd place went to Fonnuala keane of Loughrea AC and Bernie Kelly of GCH in 3rd, great work ladies! Top Craughwell lady on the day was Anne Moran with very a strong performance taking 4th position, well done to Anne!
