Dig out your runners! Dust off your shorts and get running ...
A series of 5km races will take place around Galway on Tuesday evenings during May. The series is been organised to provide more local races for Galway runners and to encourage people to take up the sport. These races are ideal for anyone preparing for the mini-marathon or other races in the summer.
The dates for the series are as follows:
§ Athenry, 9th May [Venue, Ballydavid]
§ Tuam, 16th May [Venue, Palace Grounds, subject to confirmation]
§ Craughwell, 23rd May [Venue, Craughwell Community Centre, Main St, Craughwell]
§ Dangan, 30th May
Each race will commence at 7.30pm. Participants can register on the first night at a cost of €15 for the full four race series, or on the night of any race at a cost of €5 per race. All levels of runners are welcome. A social event including finger food and a prize-giving will take place after the final race on 30th May. Prizes will be focused on spot-prizes.
Of course, if that wasn’t enough for you, there is also the last 2 runs in the Craughwell Handicap Chase – a 10k handicapped walk/run for the early morning types, commencing at 8.30 on Sunday 14th and Sunday 28th May. It is not too late to join this series since your best 2 performances out of 4 counts towards the scoring.
