PeterPeter O'Sullivan and Gerry Ryan will be wearing the precious irish kit this weekend as they represent Ireland against the best of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in the Home Countries Cross Country in Santry on Saturday.

Peter qualified as an M35 and Gerry got through as the leading M45.  Both guys should do well and there's an excellent chance that one of them will come back with some silverware.  They couldn't come into this from more different backgrounds.

Gerry of course has always been a top class athlete and as a veteran he is among the very best in the world, let alone Ireland.   Peter on the other hand probably scarcely dreamed that this might be possible two years ago as he was a reformed couch-potato trying his best to break 42 minutes in the fields of Athenry!  It's a great story, and we're very proud of them both.

Best of Luck lads!

At a more modest but no less important level of running, also very best of luck to the teams competing in the Novices XC n Roscommon this weekend - several XC Debuts all around, and historically the first full Craughwell Senior Womens team ever fielded  I was amazed at Anne Moran's outstanding Marathon debut time so there is definitely great talent as well as spirit in there.  The teams are below.gerry wins the C10
