Pounding along at the Palace Grounds
Craughwell AC had a huge turnout in the juvenile cross-country races at the Palace Grounds in Tuam last Sunday. A pleasant day ensued with none of the heavy mucky ground one might normally associate with cross country running.
Top of the class in Primary Schools cross-country
Well done to the club's athletes who took part in the Connacht Primary Schools cross-country at Beleek Castle in Ballina last Saturday.
There were some fantastic results, particularly for Craughwell NS who won the 3rd/4th class girls 800m and 5th/6th class girls 1000m team events. Linda Porter (Ballymana NS) equalled the club's best ever performance individually by taking the silver medal in the 5th/6th class girls 1000m. She was joined by youinger sister Laura in the individual medals with Laura in a fansastic 10th position overall and also Orla McDaid (Craughwell NS) taking a great medal in 12th place.
Padraic Hannon (Carrabane NS) was in hard luck in the 3rd/4th class boys 800m where he was pipped on the line for a top three place, having to settle for 4th place.
