Well my wish came true in the form of the Tuam 8k road race on Sunday 14th of January. After the Christmas season this is just what you need to get a good start to the New year. Thankfully the day was dry and the howling winds had died down, a bit!!

Having set a PB on the Athenry 10k course in 2005, I was looking forward all year to St Stephens Day 2006. It’s the closest race to home and a nice one to prevent overdoing the turkey and wine on Christmas Day/Night. Scaling New Heights!

Saturday's National Indoor Combined Events proved a momentus occasion for the club and Cathriona Farrell as she sailed over a new PB of 1.72m in the U16 Pentathlon. Cathriona's recent form in training and in competition hinted that a big jump was in the offing, with recent clearances in training in Claremorris at the 1.70m height and having jumped 5 clean jumps at the Galway Indoors the previous week up to and including 1.68m.

Juvenile athletes from the club descended in hordes to Nenagh for the Galway Indoor Track & Field Championships at the weekend where they claimed a staggering total of 43 gold, 41 silver and 30 bronze medals – almost half of the medals on offer at the competition.

  Our Senior club has grown from just a handful of members a couple of years ago to over 200 members in 2019.  We are one of the few athletics clubs (that we know of) that has a higher % of female members than male.  The emphasis is on participation, health and improvement & we are improving all the time!
