Rising standard of middle distance running amongst Craughwell AC juveniles

This year has seen some huge performances amongst the club’s juvenile ranks of middle-distance runners.  Middle-distance running is one of the more demanding of the athletics disciplines with alot of dedication to training required to improve stamina and speed over the distances. This article highlights some of the achievements this year and hopefully will inspire some of our other juvenile athletes who have the potential to succeed over these distances as they get older.

Craughwell AC’s juvenile athletes had their finest season to date in the National Outdoor Track & Field Championships which were held over 3 weekends in the last 5 weeks. Ann Loughnane, Sarah Finnegan and William Finnegan shine on Galway Track & Field Team

Congratulations to the Galway Senior Track & Field team who have competed in two rounds of the National League and will be challenging for promotion from Division 1 to the Premier Division on August 11th. Craughwell AC had 3 athletes on the team all of whom put in some fine performances to collect valuable points for the Galway team last weekend in Cork. Their results were as follows:

Congratulations to Diarmuid Quill, Shane O'Halloran and David Porter who took part in the Dundrum 10k and junior 5k recently in Dundrum, Co. Tipperary. The race report …  The sweat rolled down my face in the intense heat, flowing like a river down onto my drenched singlet. Gasping for air and stomach churning, we reached the final bend and into the home straight.
