Fantastic Turnout for fit4life 5k – updated with results!

Fantastic Turnout for fit4life 5k – updated with results!

Tony Nevin's organisational skills will go down in history after today, not alone coordinating a fantastically successful fit4life 5k but also organising a midsummer's day in the middle of what has been the most miserable January for many years with deluge following deluge almost every day. Relief! 99 runners/joggers/walkers took part beneath Craughwell's sunny skies, mostly coming from the fit4life groups in Athenry AC, Craughwell AC and Galway City Harriers, with a handful of other runners taking part. Linda Porter romps to victory in Galway Schools Cross-country

Linda Porter romps to victory in Galway Schools Cross-country

Linda Porter romped home to victory in her first Secondary Schools cross-country race in Dangan on Thursday. Linda easily led the field of over 100 runners in the Minor Girls category to take the Galway title in style. Also in fine form in the same race, Katie O'Donoghue took 6th place in perhaps her best ever cross-country performance. Well done to both girls!

As many people in the club know, I have been out of action since 19th December having badly injured my left-hand – amputating my ring finger in what the doctors described as a "degloving" of the finger. Thankfully, due to the speedy reaction of a number of people who were present when it happened and due to the exceptional skills of…

Resumption of Circuit Training

The senior club's new 10 week program of circuit training got off to a good start on Monday night with 28 people taking part in the first night's training session. About 35 people have signed up for the current program, so there is space for approximately 10 more if any one missed the first night and is interested in doing it.

Connaught AAI Mud-Wrestle Results

Connaught AAI Mud-Wrestle Results

I don’t know if you could quite call it running, but somehow despite this it was fantastic fun in today’s Connaught cross country at Dartfield.  Occasional heavy downpours and 1.5 kilometer laps in pure muck refused to dampen the obvious enthusiasm and enjoyment of either spectators or participants.
