5 Down 1 To Go–

5 Down 1 To Go–

Well its nearly over for another year, we have had a massive turnout for every race this year and have seen great efforts from all levels, elite to novice, week on week.  Taking into account that six months ago many entrants would not have even attempted to run 1 kilometre let alone race 5 kilometres and further more 6 in a row, but run them they did. I think everyone came out all the better for doing them, bar one…

Krakow Marathon

Krakow Marathon

I knew from the outset that 2 marathons 4 weeks apart was not a clever idea.  There was the worry that I would not have recovered enough from Connemara, but I still needed to be running long for Krakow!  I took it easy the first week after Connemara and then went back to doing speed work and did a 16 miler the following week.  I then tried to taper again.I had never been to Krakow, I had never been to…

5K Results: Maloney makes it interesting in Craughwell

5K Results: Maloney makes it interesting in Craughwell

May seems to be the new July in Ireland!  In fantastic weather 312 athletes turned up to take us to the half way point in this years series.  Conor Maloney ran excellently to break Brian O'Connor's grip on the winners spot.  Conor finished in 16:18 and from the pictures along the way seems to have pushed it hard from the start to avoid having to deal with Brian's finishing kick.  Timmy Glavey continued his improvement coming in 3rd ahead of Craughwell's…

The club had over 20 athletes in action, with many fine performances. The following were the results for club members, with the top 4 or top 6 in different events progressing to the Connacht finals which will be held this Wednesday:-
