Great Craughwell turnout as Clonliffe are Longford Leaders

On Sunday last the biggest race in the midlands was held.  Longford Marathon & 1/2 Marathon 2008 attracted roughly in the region of 1000 runners.   Clonliffe Harriers seem to have a scouting network in operation at Dublin airport and sign up any new talent entering the country.  At the front the race had an international feel, with Clonliffe signees Sergiu Terea winning the full marathon in a superb 2:23 and Josephat Boit taking the 1/2 Marathon in 1:11.  From speaking to…

Galway was incredibly well represented in this years olympics. As well as Paul Hession making it into the top 10 fastest men in the world, Loughrea’s Olive Loughnane – sister of craughwell athlete Ann – performed admirably in finishing 7th out of 48 starters in a hotly contested 20k walk today. Cathriona Farrell battled with the best in these islands at the weekend when contesting the English AAA U17 girls’ high jump in Birmingham.   Craughwells senior Athletes are enjoying a rich vein of form over the summer months.   Mark Davis has been in fine form taking his first road race of the season in the Annaghdown 10k. Mark took the top step on the podium in a remarkable time of 33:50 and setting a new PB, to top that he went on to take the Headford 8k No1 spot in a time of 26:42 only a few weeks later.Great stuff Mark, we expect nothing…
