Wandering Review of the Year 2008

Wandering Review of the Year 2008

A very happy New Year for 2009 to all the members of Craughwell AC and the other Galway clubs. This is a wandering review of the year of the juvenile club’s activities and my own involvement.  The start of the year was a peculiar one for me … the beginning of almost 16 weeks off work due to a hand injury. Very Belated Commentary on Cross Country Performances in Cavan

Very Belated Commentary on Cross Country Performances in Cavan

This is a very late commentary on the performance of our athletes in Ballyhaise, Cavan a few weeks ago. Full results of the National finals of the uneven ages and Novice championships are on http://www.athleticsireland.ie/content/?page_id=160. Mark has already commented on the fantastic performance of our senior men’s team who finished a very creditable 7th place in the National Novice cross-country in Cavan with 17 teams participating in total. My summary here is of the juvenile performances.

Jason to front in Aware 10K

Jason to front in Aware 10K

With all the cross-country excitement I forgot to report that there was another Craughwell athlete in action last weekend.  Jason Broderick was to be seen near the front of the Aware 10K in Phoenix Park on Saturday.  Jason ended up finishing 13th overall in a time of 35:18 which shows that he is regaining his form after a tough year with injuries. Full results are here. Youy can spot more pictures of Jason here.

This is an interesting video of Martin training at altitude this week ahead of a big cross country this weekend. He looks to be in good nick! They did 5 repeats of 1.1 miles at very hard pace.
