Evergreen Martin Corcoran ran brilliantly in Quilty to finish within 35 seconds of the great Seamus Power in the prestigous Kilmurray-Ibrickane 4-miler. As usual Martin walked away with the M40 category and was 5th overall – just a couple of seconds behind John Byrne of Mayo AC.
There were plenty of Craughwell Singlets in evidence in Ballinasloe for their inaugral 10k Race. There were many positive things about this race – the weather was good, the Hotel provided a really nice registration area and the marshalling was really excellent. There was an excellent turnout with what seemed like at least a couple of hundred runners togging out to complete the 10k on a fine if cool and breezy day. Craughwell athletes faced the long trip north to Magherafelt in Co. Derry for the second weekend of the National Juvenile Indoors. Magherafelt boasts the largest indoor sports facility in Europe with a huge building enclosing 2.5 acres of a carpet-clad playing field. The track was very different to what we are normally used to – being a flat 300m track laid out on a type of industrial carpet.
