Best of Luck Cathriona

Best of Luck Cathriona

Tomorrow Cathriona Farrell faces a huge challenge as she competes in the 10th European Youth Olympics in Tampere, Finland.   This will be the highest level that she has yet competed in, and the highest level anyone in the club apart from Ann Loughnane has reached. The high jump must be such a tough event as you really don't get any time to settle in.  Let's hope she's feeling confident, jumping strong and gets a big slice of luck tomorrow.  The…

Jubilant Jumpers Take Tullamore Titles

Jubilant Jumpers Take Tullamore Titles

Last weekend saw another superb performance by Craughwell AC’s high jumpers and long jumpers with 3 National titles and 2 bronze medals, along with a super sprint silver medal for good measure. The club is rapidly establishing a reputation for itself as one of the leading clubs in the country in the jumping events and were unlucky in fact not to pick up 3 more medals in high jump and long jump with Maria McNamara, Tara McNally and Dandy Murray…

Headford Results 2009 Online

Headford Results 2009 Online

Johnny and Martin dig deep In spite of a fairly scummy evening weather-wise, there was another great turnout for this year's Headford 8k.  There was a fairly nasty shower as it started but apparently after that it cleared up well for the duration of the race.  Though we had a small Craughwell contingent, they all ran well.  Martin Corcoran was first clubman home in 4th position with a time of 27:47, followed closely by Johnny Lane in 5th.  Martin also…

Provisional results of 3rd race of handicap series

Provisional results of 3rd race of handicap series

Provisional results of race 3 in the series are below. They are provisional until they are plugged into Mark's series spreadsheet which magically calculates the results and substracts 10 seconds from the times of those that slipped me a tenner before the race! Top performance today came from Muiriosa Holahan, clearly benefitting from the summer holidays! Muiriosa knocked a full 2 minutes and 45 seconds off her handicap. There were big improvements also of over a minute from James Corbett…

Bolt from the Blue in Lausanne

Bolt from the Blue in Lausanne

Another sprint video for you of an athlete we are considering signing for Craughwell. This time it was from last night in Lausanne where the mighty Usain Bolt posted the 4th fastest 200M in history despite being in bad rain and with a headwind. Local hero Paul Hession amazingly was in the B-standard race which gives you an idea of the standard – though to be fair Paul should have been in this race as his pb is better than…

Gillick Cuarenta y Cuatro

Gillick Cuarenta y Cuatro

Double-european champion David Gillick suddenly leapt right to the attention of the Athletics world with an incredible run last weekend. For 400 meter runners the 45 second barrier is a massive one and very few people cross it. To put it in perspective it’s a LOT easier to do a 4 minute mile. This video is not a long one – enjoy! This run makes Gillick the 5th fastest man in the world this year for one lap of the…
