Victory For Peadar Harvey in Inaugural Galway City Mile

  The busy city centre streets of Galway was the venue for a festival of running at the weekend, with the inaugural Galway City Marathon talking place on Sunday. The event was preceded on Saturday evening by an Open Mile and an Elite Mile. Terrific Performances at Community Games finals!

        Athletes from Craughwell AC had a highly successful weekend at the National Finals of the Community Games in Athlone last weekend with 11 athletes in action, four of whom brought home silverware. Emma Byrne had a super performance in the U13 girls 900m race walk to take 4th place while Shane Finn was unlucky not to make the final of the boys event with a 6th place finish in the semi-final.   The final week of Craughwell AC’s Fit4fun Summer Camp took place earlier this month at the astroturf where 64 children took part in a wide range of athletics activities and other sports. The intermingling of coaching the athletic disciplines such as long jump and high jump with fun activity games proved to be highly successful and the feedback from parents and participants was extremely positive. It was a fantastic weekend weather-wise and the results were also great for Craughwell AC senior athletes.  The Club made its annual trip to Claregalway on Saturday and were rewarded with Silver in the team category.  The first 4 home of Peter O'Sullivan, Johnny Lane, Tommy and Justin Niland  were rewarded with a Silver medal in the Galway team category.
