Our near neighbours Athenry AC are in the shortlist for the AAI club of the year award the winner of which will be announced tomorrow night.  The very best of luck to them in this, the award would be deserved.  Obviously being from Craughwell there's little more enjoyable than beating our big-town neighbors in team competitions 🙂  However putting aside any friendly local rivalries, there's really no doubt that members of Athenry AC have helped transform Senior running in Galway…

Event date & time:  Sun, 2010-11-21 12:30 Location:  Kilcornan, Clarinbridge The 2nd annual Clarinbridge 10Km Road Race will take place at 12.30pm on Sunday, 5th DECEMBER 2010. All monies raised are in aid of the IHPCT Lourdes Fund 2011. The IHPCT travel to Lourdes every year with children with special needs and over €2900 was raised at last years race. Congratulations to former club member Laura Mitchell who was recently named as the Camogie Young Player of the Year at the Camogie Association’s All Stars awards ceremony in Dublin. Best of Luck Peter and Gerry!

Peter O'Sullivan and Gerry Ryan will be wearing the precious irish kit this weekend as they represent Ireland against the best of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in the Home Countries Cross Country in Santry on Saturday. Peter qualified as an M35 and Gerry got through as the leading M45.  Both guys should do well and there's an excellent chance that one of them will come back with some silverware.  They couldn't come into this from more different backgrounds….

  The grounds of Beleek Castle in Ballina played host to the first day of the Connacht cross country championships last Sunday. The Athenry F4L 5K road race will be run on this SATURDAY 6th of November 2010 @11am in Newcastle, just outside Athenry.  The course will be the exact same as used in the first leg of the Galway 5KM series for the last four years.
