Some strong Results for Craughwell Road Runners

Some strong Results for Craughwell Road Runners

as the build up to the Galway 5k series continued, there were some promising results recently for Craughwell AC road runners last weekend.  First off Jason Broderick finished a highly respectable 4th in the Christian Camp of the Arts Salthill 5k in a time of 16:58.  A solid build up to the series and he will go a lot faster in Athenry heed my words!. The Christian Camps 5k managed to shake off it's mixed reputation from previous years with…

Successful Trip to Tír Chonaill Open Track & Field

Successful Trip to Tír Chonaill Open Track & Field

A small group of Craughwell AC athletes made the journey up to Donegal Town for the second annual Open Invitational Track & Field hosted by Tír Chonaill Athletic Club. Sunny skies helped the large number of athletes who hailed from over 16 counties according to the PA, to enjoy a very successful event. 2:03:02 What a difference a wind makes

2:03:02 What a difference a wind makes

What a weekend for marathon spectators – first Emanuel Mutai smashes the London Marathon record on Sunday running an incredible 2:04:40.  Then the following day somebody with the same surname Geoffrey Mutai runs an even more incredible 2:03:02 – almost a minute faster than Gebresalaisse's world record.  Then news came in that the record wouldn't count because of the downhill nature of Bostona nd also a tailwind effect.  My first reaction was "no way! Boston is one of the slowest…

An action-packed day of athletics took place at the South Connacht Schools Track & Field Championships last Thursday in Dangan with many fine performances from our athletes while representing their schools – particularly in the middle-distance races, where 3 athletes smashed the 2:10 barrier for the first time in the intermediate boys 800m and the cast-wielding Sineád Gaffney took the gold in the intermediate girls 800m despite a suspected fracture of her left arm. The day kicked off at 10am…
