Three Athletes Selected Onto National Pentathlon Squad!

Congratulations to Maria McNamara, Katie O'Donoghue and Sineád Gaffney who were all selected for the National Pentathlon Squad for 2012.   Last weekend, Craughwell AC continued to make its mark on National Senior athletics when 2 athletes from the club medalled in the National Senior Indoor Track & Field. Connacht clubs took home a total 6 medals from the championships which were held in The Odyssey Arena in Belfast. Outstanding Results from Connacht Secondary Schools Cross Country

The Connacht Secondary Schools cross country finals took place last week in the grounds of St Marys College Galway, which will also host the All-Ireland finals on 10th March. The 8 races saw some exceptional performances by Craughwell AC athletes to help their schools to individual and team success. Foremost of these were Matthew Barrett's and Ciara Greene's victories in the Minor Boys and Junior Girls races.

Day 1 of the Connacht Indoors takes place tomorrow Sat 18th Feb at the new athletics facility in Claremorris. Running Workshop in Craughwell on Tuesday 21 February

Please see attached regarding a running workshop that is being held in Craughwell Community Centre next Tuesday the 21st of February from 7 to 7.30pm and again from 7.45pm to 8.15pm. The workshop comprises a presentation of the services offered by The Running School Ireland who analyse walking and running biomechanics. 2 sessions are organised to facilitate parents dropping/collecting kids from different juvenile training sessions and adults attending fit4life.   Having won the high jump title in both the indoor and outdoor Universities Track & Field for the last 2 years, Cathriona Farrell made it 5-in-a-row at the weekend when retaining her title with a 1.69m leap.   Four members of the Craughwell senior XC team headed up to Boyle today for the Cross Country.  Martin Corcoran and Peter O'Sullivan competed in the Veteran 7k race, which Mark Davis and Paul Keane toed the line representing Galway County in the Intermediate 10k event.  The vets race kicked off first and it was one of the most exciting races I've ever watched.   After the first lap I saw Peter in 4th place overall I thought it was brave…
