Craughwell AC’s fit4fun athletics/multi-sport summer camps will take place again this year with 3 weeks scheduled for 9th and 16th July and 20th August. An action packed week of athletics activities intermingled with other sports and games is in store for you. Craughwell NS and Oranmore Boy NS continued their strong tradition in the Galway City Sports with some top performances. Pride of place goes to the 6th class girls relay team who won the gold medals by a considerable margin with Aoife Walshe, Katie Stephens, Mary Dunphy, Erin Fitzpatrick and Laura Cunningham. Conor Duggan Powers to Victory at Galway Community Games

 Craughwell U14 Girls 4x100m, Galway Community Games Champions 2012 Large numbers of Craughwell AC athletes competed in the Galway Community Games finals at the weekend while representing the Craughwell and surrounding parishes. Highlights of the weekend for the Craughwell area were Conor Duggan’s breathtaking victory in the U16 boys 100m and the performance of the U14 girls’ 4x100m relay to take gold with their team of Katie Stephens, Erin Fitzpatrick, Mary Dunphy, Aisling Keady-Cummins, Leanne Freaney and Emma Gaffney.

  Craughwell’s U9-12 athletes competed in the Connacht Championships last weekend in Dangan with plenty of success. The standard of competition had risen significantly in the younger age groups in Connacht but the club still held its own against Connacht’s best. Top performances from the club were as follows:

It seems that May and June are the months where for some reason everyone west of the Shannon is trying to cover 3.1 miles as quickly as possible and this certainly was a jam-packed month.
