Day 2 of the Galway Track & Field was held last Tuesday. The results are here. Some video I took from my phone is below for those that missed it. The performance of the night was probably from Ferghal Geraghty of GCH who won the 1500m with style. Our own Peadar Harvey was hot on his heels for much of it but ran out of steam on the last couple of laps, however he still won the Junior medal easily…..

A huge well done to Maeve Curley who claimed her first National Senior title today in Santry when winning the 5k race walk at the 2012 Senior Track & Field Championships. This is the 6th National track & field title to come to the club and is the 3rd time an athlete from the club has won this particular title, with Ann Loughnane having won it in 2006 and 2007. In figures just released on AAI's website, Craughwell AC is really punching above its weight in membership numbers, proudly sitting in the top four alongside clubs from the big cities of Galway, Kilkenny and Dublin. Centered in a rural area with most of its members from within 5 or 6 miles of the village, its a remarkable achievement and reflects the huge efforts being made within the club at both juvenile and senior level to encourage participation from the locality. …
