Craughwell U17 Boys Make History!

    On a truely fantastic day for the club, our U17 boys cross country team placed third in the National cross-country inter-club U17 championships at the weekend in Wexford. If ever a podium-finish was well-deserved, this was it. The team has shown exemplary dedication to training over the last 14 weeks since the start of September. Well Done Aidan!

    Well done to former member of the club Aidan Conneely who represented Ireland with distinction at the weekend when competing in Glasgow on the Irish Schools Pentathlon team. Aidan set a number of personal bests in the competition including an impressive 5.70m in the long jump and 24.31 in the 200m.   

Club Approved for €16,000 Equipment Grant

Club Approved for €16,000 Equipment Grant

Good news came through today via Junior Minister Ciaran Cannon and via the Department of Sport website that the club has been approved for a grant of €16,000 for the purchase of sports equipment. It is planned to use the funds for the upgrading of our high jump equipment, purchase of competition-quality hurdles and purchase of pole vault poles. It is no secret that the availability of convenient facilities locally to practise on a regular basis is key to success….

Oranmore Sweep to Victory at St Mary’s Cross Country Invitational

Bouncing back from a tough weekend’s cross country last Sunday in Meath, many of the same athletes made the short trip from their schools to St Mary’s College in Galway for the 5th Annual Cross Country Invitational held in the college. Tough Day at the Races

Craughwell AC journeyed to Tattersalls in Meath on Sunday last for the first day of the National cross country championships where the juvenile even age groups and seniors were in action. Highlights of the day for Craughwell AC were the fantastic runs from Jamie Spellman and Damien O’Boyle to place 6th and 17th in the U16 boys 4000m and Sean Cannon and Patrick Noonan’s performance in the U12 boys 2000m which saw them feature on the Galway bronze medal winning team.
