Craughwell AC’s older juveniles had an amazing day at the U13-19 Connacht Championships in Athlone with over 60 athletes taking part and capturing a massive haul of 30 Connacht titles and 30 silver/bronze podium places. Provisional timetable for next Sunday is attached here. Please note that all times are guesses so arrive an hour before the guess! The guesses for the track times were provided by the Connacht Secretary. The guesses for the field times were provided by me, assuming they all start at 11am and stick to the published order, which may not be the case. Sorry I cannot be more specific on times.

In sweltering Mediterranean weather conditions, over 70 athletes from Craughwell AC took part in the Connacht U9-12s Track & Field Championships in Athlone on Saturday where they featured 31 times on the medal podium, easily the most successful Connacht club on the day.

Craughwell U12 Girls 4x100m Relay Team It was a busy June Bank Holiday weekend for the club with 3 days of action in Tullamore Saturday and Ballinderrin Sunday and Monday for the Galway Community Games. Craughwell AC had a small band of its leading athletes in action at the Irish Schools Track & Field Championships in Tullamore where they were representing Calasantious Oranmore, the Pres Athenry, St Raphaels Loughrea and Loughrea VS.

Over a busy 2 days of athletics action, many of our finest athletes in primary school competed in the Galway County and City Sports which were held on adjacent days in Dangan recently. Craughwell NS and Oranmore Boys NS have competed in the Galway City Sports for many years along with many other schools from both city and county. Three Craughwell AC athletes featured on the Galway U13 Cross Country team who took bronze medals in the National Community Games finals in Athlone recently – Oisin Lyons Abigail McNally and Shauna Tobin.   Oisin Lyons had a particularly impressive run when he placed second overall over the 1200m distance. Well done also to former member of the club Dearbhla Cronin who also had a fine run as the leading Galway girl home. 5k rescheduled for Sunday 16th June 2013.

Craughwell Senior AC club are holding a 5k on Sunday 16th June 2013 at 1pm. Entry is €10 on the day. Registration takes place from 12noon at Craughwell National School. Run starts at 1pm from Craughwell National School. Jones counter measured and AAI permit granted. Lovely fast flat course encircling Craughwell Village. Runners, joggers and walkers are all very welcome, however, you must be over 16 years of age.
