Start Line FOA 10k 2015 ©John O’Connor The 14th Fields of Athenry 10k took place on Saturday 26th December.  Conditions were near perfect, presenting what must have been the calmest day in weeks.  Over a thousand eager runners took to the road which this year included 33 from Craughwell AC. Ryan Blitz in Kiltullagh 5k

In a relatively quiet week for Craughwell AC, two of the club’s leading juvenile distance runners made an impressive debut on the road racing scene when taking victory in the Kiltullagh 5k race recently. Siblings Caron and Ben Ryan took the victory in both the Senior Women’s and Senior Men’s 5k with Caron taking the honours in a time of 21.25 and Ben equally impressive in time of 18:43. Well done to both athletes – seriously impressive running!

Jason Broderick wins All-Ireland XC Bronze!

As Craughwell coped with the aftermath of the recent rains, Jason Broderick was among those that headed to Waterford to do battle in the mud at the immmensely competitive National Novices XC Championships.  The Galway XC Champion ran a superb race, starting off conservatively to avoid the crush and building through the field from 50th in the first lap to the top 5 as the race progressed.  In the end he won an amazing bronze medal, probably the finest individual…

Making the long journey to Waterford for the 2nd day of the National Cross Country Championships, 21 Craughwell juveniles put in some heroic performances on the muddy Dungarvan surface against the top youngsters from all around the country.
