Yes another well done to Evan Hallinan who starred in the Leevale Open Track & Field last weekend with a big leap of 1.50m to take high jump gold and 4.33m to take long jump silver and adding bronze in the hurdles for good measure. Congratulations to Evan Hallinan who has being announced as the Galway Athlete of the Year in the U12-15 Boys category for his performances in 2016. The 2 Sineáds made a little bit of history for the club at the weekend with both featuring on the podium at the same time but for different teams at the Irish Universities Track & Field Championships in Cork with Sineád Treacy’s NUIG team taking the silver medals in the 4x100m in a time of 49.66 and Sineád Gaffney’s UL team taking the bronze medals just 0.03 seconds (or 24cm!) behind in a time of 49.69. The past weekend saw the end of the indoor track and field season and all eyes now turn towards the outdoor season with the first event getting underway this Friday with the Universities Track & Field followed later this month by the first of the Dublin Graded Meets and the U13 to Senior Galway Track & Field. The indoors saw a number of new club junior and senior records set by U18 trio Jerry Keary, Ciana Reidy and Laura Cunningham….
