Craughwell AC entered its first ever men’s team in the National Indoor League on Sunday in Abbotstown and they performed admirably. The league involves competing across a range of events and totals are awarded based on position.
For round 1, Cormac Kearney ran in the 60m, coming 5th in his heat with 7.55 to score 4 points. Ronnie Warde finished 5th in his 200m in 25:35 to score 2 points. Patrick Noonan was a late draftee in the 800m and ran a strong race to finish with a pb 2.02 and score another 4 points. In the 4x400m relay – Brian Malone, Jack Miskella, Ronnie Warde and Patrick Noonan ran a fine 3:42 to claim 6 points. The relay was entertaining fare!! See the replay below!
In the field events – Cormac Kearney picked up a point in the long jump, leaping 4.70. Justin Lane got a great 8 points in the pole vault, clearing 2.20m. Ronnie threw a superb 9.65 in the Shot Putt to take 7 points. In total, the team scored 32 points and currently sit in 11th place, 15 points off 6th – with the top 6 to qualify for the finals. Round 2 takes place in AIT on 23rd of January.
