Juvenile/student membership renewal is now open for the year 2022 – see here for online link.

As the Galway Indoors are on the weekend of 7/8th January and entries are due in by January 3^rd, we need to have all participants registered for 2022 by then. Approximately half our membership renew on a Sept-Aug cycle and the other half on a Jan-Dec cycle. Age group coordinators will be in touch with their groups to collect their entries.

It’s important also to only enter events that you will definitely take part in due to the high cost of entries. The Galway County Board decided at a recent meeting that entry fees will be increased by more than 150% from €5 per athlete to €5 per event.

The club pays these fees. When it would mean is that for example a family of 3 with each doing 3 events, rather than it costing €15 for all 3 children to take part, it will now cost €45.

The club already pays an average of €3300 per year for entry to the Galway indoors and outdoors so it is estimated that the increase will cost the club almost €5000 extra per year. For 2022, the club has decided not to pass this onto parents as these are testing times for everyone what with the pandemic etc.

The club’s view is that it should make the sport as affordable as possible for families to participate in. It may be necessary to increase the membership fee in subsequent years but this will be kept under review.
