Super Weekend At Scottish Indoors!

A small but hugely talented group of athletes made the journey to Glasgow for the Scottish Indoors this weekend. The club first embarked on trips to the Scottish Indoors all the way back in 2008 and have gone most years since then missing only 3 years and the 2 pandemic years. It’s a fantastic trip every year and one that the athletes really look forward to. This year saw the club equal its best year ever from 2019 with 2…

Jamie the Silver (mud) Surfer in Cork!

Jamie the Silver (mud) Surfer in Cork!

National Novices Silver medalist Jamie Fallon headed to Cork in determined mood and did his utmost to win a title on Sunday. The course was flat, with just a couple of drags but going was incredibly sticky all the way underfoot. He led the field for about 3 of the 4 laps but just wasn’t feeling 100% once he started running and got caught on the 3rd lap by a hard charging Evan Fitzgerald who timed his push brilliantly. In…

U17-Seniors Kick off Galway Indoors in Style

Hot off the back of the fantastic Sports Capital Grant announcements for Craughwell, Athenry and Tuam there was a fantastic atmosphere in TUS (aka AIT) Indoor arena on Friday night, particularly among the officials, many of who’s clubs saw support for their development plans. Connacht PRO Pierce O’Callaghan did a great job on the mike and new CPB performances were set. Holding the older ages separate to the Juvenile seems to have been a great move. Sprinters! Lorraine Delaney won…

With so many people working so hard within the club on coaching and committees and freely giving of their time to 100s of children and adults, it’s so encouraging to get such a huge injection of funding for our facilities. As everyone will already know, the drive for the 400m track was spearheaded by…

Thank You Andy, TJ and Jane-Ann

Thank You Andy, TJ and Jane-Ann

A big thank you to Andy Talbot and TJ Beatty and Jane-Ann Meehan for putting down the accurate markings on our 400m tarmacadem track today. Its now marked from the start line and every 100m and also a line at every 50m so it will be real handy for athletes running reps. Andy and TJ are both official AAI/IAAF track measurers and the task required a lot of steel tapes and a lot of time. It was super to get…

Brilliant Results in Baltic Connacht Schools XC

Brilliant Results in Baltic Connacht Schools XC

It was definitely a case of “four seasons in one day” as the cream of North and South Connacht distance running collided today in Bushfield for the magical goal of a top-15 qualification ticket to the All-Ireland in Belfast. After the heavy rain of the last few days, the course was coated with pretty deep mud for a lot of the loop, and the weather was intermittently cold and sunny and freezing and stormy. There were some outstanding runs from…
