Fantastic jumping by Evan in Madrid!

Fantastic jumping by Evan in Madrid!

Evan Hallinan put in an exhilarating series of jumps today in the European U20 DNA event in Madrid. Pitted against the Spanish athlete in round 1, Evan nominated 1.90 as his height with the Spanish athlete nominating 1.98 (just slightly higher than Evan’s PB of 1.96m incidentally – a tactical choice by the Spaniard who has a PB of 2.12). Evan had to jump first and soared over the 1.90m. However, the Spanish athlete did likewise over the 1.98m mark…

Best of luck to Evan in European U20 DNA !

The best of luck to Evan Hallinan who travels to Spain today to compete with the Irish U20 team in the European U20 DNA international.  Ireland will compete in Madrid against the best U20s from Spain, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, France and Portugal where Evan will be in action in the high jump. The National Senior Indoor championships took place this weekend in Abbotstown and featured some excellent performances from Craughwell AC Athletes.  Jack Miskella made Sunday’s final in the 1500m by running 4.01 in a hard-fought heat on Saturday.  The final had a very evenly matched field and the race was very closely packed.  In a ferocious sub-60s last 400m, Jack moved from last place to 5th with a near-pb of 3:56.09. This was Jack’s best ever finish in a national senior…

Records fall like Armagh Apples

Records fall like Armagh Apples

(Terrible headline… sorry! 🙂) In February, Armagh plays host to one of the most competitive 5km road races in the world. The main reason it’s so fast is that it is really hard to get entry to this race, particularly the international 5km for which you need a 5km time of 15:30 or under within the last year. Our lads don’t do many 5km races, so I had been bugging the organiser for the last few months based on equivalent…
