What a Special Day for Craughwell AC!

What a fantastic and special day the club had last Saturday at its second attempt to break the world record for a 12-hour relay. Running a relay continuously for 12 hours is a major undertaking and it was wonderful to see the huge effort from right across the club and the community to pull it off. Hills Galore in glorious Westport Connacht Champs

Westport House in Mayo was the venue for the Connacht Even Ages Cross Country.  Though the sun blazed down, the course was muddy in spots and incredibly hilly and tough. It consisted of 1 km laps, each containing very steep hills and sharp descents.   There were some brilliant performances from the travelling Craughwell AC Athletes as usual. Fine runs in Autumn Open 2023

On Sunday a crew of Craughwell AC Athletes made the trek to Abbotstown in Dublin to compete in the Autumn Open Cross Country Championships.  The first event of the day was the inaugural senior Mixed 4x1500m relay which involved two men and two women running an any order the team desired.  The first two teams qualified for the European Club Competion in Portugal so the competition was fierce. Great Combinations at Connacht Schools CE Finals

On Thursday the Schools Action continued, this time with the Secondary Schools Combined Events finals in Athlone.  Siofra Davis and Leonore Church of Presentation College Athenry came 2nd and 3rd in the Senior Girls competition with Siofra winning Long-Jump and Shot Put and Leonore winning the 800m. The Connacht Primary Schools Cross Country finals took place in a fairly wet and mucky Tuam Demense last Tuesday and there were some outstanding performances from Craughwell AC Athletes.
