Craughwell Win Silver in National Road Relays

Craughwell Win Silver in National Road Relays

The National Road Relays held in Raheny each April is one of the highlight competitions of the domestic distance running calendar. Clubs from every corner of Ireland head up to the big smoke to test their mettle over laps of the slightly-over one-mile circuit near St. Anne’s Park. In the past we have competed in the Women’s competition and the M35, but this year Craughwell had just one team in the Senior Men’s category which was stacked as usual with…

Mathys wins 100th 5km Series as Tony is last man Standing!

Mathys wins 100th 5km Series as Tony is last man Standing!

The emphasis of the 5km series is participation and fun, but Mathys Bocquet showed that running fast can be fun too with a superb 15:36 clocking, one of the fastest times ever posted on the rolling course (only bettered by Gerry Ryan’s 15:34 in 2009). Hugely talented Evan O’Rourke of Maree AC paced it perfectly to run a 15:53 personal best in 2nd and Kevin Mooney finished hot with 16:10 3rd place and a sub-3:10 last km. Tony is Last…

OMG THE MALAGA HALF MARATHON by Katie Gorman

OMG THE MALAGA HALF MARATHON by Katie Gorman

The road to Malaga began about six months ago with our own lovely Fiona Diviney, suggestion “why don’t we go to Malaga to do the half marathon”. The troops soon gathered, the WhatsApp was formed and before we knew it more than twenty of the great Senior Craughwell AC crew were booked on the Ryanair flight from Shannon to Malaga, some of us of course paying way more for flights than others. A little reminder of how our phones are…

Moorhead Silver caps off Brilliant IUAA 2025

Moorhead Silver caps off Brilliant IUAA 2025

The National University Outdoor Track and Field Championships concluded today in Morton stadium and there were some more outstanding results from the Craughwell crew representing their Colleges. Kyle Moorhead is in great fitness and it showed yesterday with a fine win in the semis, running the easiest looking 1:54 I have ever seen. Today he was up against some fine athletes – notable National Senior medalist Callum Hurley of DCU, a man he knows very well, as well as OisĂn…

Leitrim Half Marathon – Tony McGowan run 2025 by Aoife Mullane

Leitrim Half Marathon – Tony McGowan run 2025 by Aoife Mullane

The Tony McGowan run was a hot topic of discussion for several weeks at our Wednesday speed sessions down in Colemans track. A few members had heard it was a nice “flat” half marathon perfect for PBs. With some scepticism I signed up and we organised lifts for the trip. It was a lovely morning with some light mist in the early morning air. Temperatures were low “perfect running conditions.” Headquarters for the races: 5k, 10k and half marathon was…
