Ann Loughnane Sets New U23 Walking Record

Congratulations to Ann Loughnane who set yet another National Record when winning the 20KM Walk at the International Grand Prix of Race Walking in the Isle of Man at the weekend. Ann’s winning time of 1.37.45 was a new National U23 Record.

Well done also to a number of athletes from other Galway clubs who also recorded top-class performances at the weekend.

Up and coming distance running star from Loughrea, Jason Broderick, raced to 10th position in the National Junior Men’s 8k Cross-Country in Santry Dublin. This puts Jason amonst elite company and on the fringes of representing Ireland at international cross-country events.

Top performances were also achieved by Paul McNamara from Athenry AC who finished 4th in the National Senior Men’s 12k Cross-Country (also in Santry), Gary Thornton (GCH) who finished 11th and Michael O’Connor (GCH) who finished 22nd.
