
Athletes In Form at the Northwest Games
Darragh Kelly and Evan Hallinan who won the
U12 and U14 Boys High Jump at the Northwest Games in Athlone
Craughwell AC athletes wrapped up a fine year of athletics with some super performances at the Northwest Games in Athlone IT at the weekend. The highlights included a fantastic 1.63m leap from Evan Hallinan to win the U14 Boys High Jump, a 4.34m leap from Ella Farrelly to win the U12 Girls Long Jump, a 1.45m jump by Darragh Kelly to win the U12 Boys High Jump and 1.43m leaps by Siofra Davis and Jade Moorhead to place 1st and 2nd in the U14 Girls High Jump and 1.50m from Saoirse Moore to take bronze in the U16 Girls High Jump.

There were many more fine performances including gold for Shauna Tobin in the Junior Womens long jump (4.05), double silver for Laura Cunningham in the Senior Womens 60m (8.56) and triple jump (9.84), silver for Arlene Earls in the Junior Womens 400m (62.31), silver for Evan Hallinan in the U14 Boys long jump (4.69), bronze for Alana Grogan in the U14 Girls Walk (6.11.21), bronze for Darragh Kelly in the U12 Boys hurdles (10.99), 4th place for Fauve Aylmer in the U14 Girls 800m (2.28.43), 4th place for James Furey in the U16 Boys High Jump (1.50), 4th place for Ella Farrelly in the U12 Girls sprint and 5th in the hurdles in 11.11 and some blistering performances in the Mens 800m with John Cormican running 2:00.26, Gavin Cooney 2:03.71, Jack Miskella 2:03.75, Ben Garrard 2:04.52, Kyle Moorhead 2:08.55, Luke Evans 2:08.81 and Oisin Davis 2:11.37.
Paschal Walsh was also very impressive in the U16 Boys 400m with a time of 56.58 as were Meadbh Cowan in her debut for the club in the U12 Girls 60m Hurdles placing 9th in a time of 11.59, Clara Corbett with 12.50 in the U14 Girls 60m Hurdles and 9.22 in the U14 60m sprint, Ethan O’Brien with 11.74 in the U14 Boys 60m Hurdles and 9.15 in the U14 60m sprint and 3.89 in the long jump, Saoirse Moore with 10.57 in the U16 Girls 60m Hurdles and 2.37.74 in the 800m, Paschal Walsh and Oisin Davis with 25.93 and 27.11 in the U16 Boys 200m, Aubrey O’Brien with 25.67 in the Junior Mens 200m and 7.87 in the Junior Mens 60m, Clodagh O’Meara with 2.37.55 in the U14 Girls 800m, Freya Bohan with 8.54 in the U18 Girls 60m and 69.90 in the 400m, James Furey with 67.75 in the U16 Boys 400m, Sophie O’Brien with 9.29 in the U16 Girls 60m and 4.09 in the long jump, Ella Lyons with 4.13 in the U14 Girls Long Jump, Erin Kelly with 4.09 in the U14 long jump and 1.25 in the U14 high jump, Jade Moorhead with 3.69 in the U14 long jump, and Amelie and Keely Grogan with 13.00 and 13.37 in the U12 Girls 60m hurdles.
