Athletes Prominent at City and County Sports
Over a busy 2 days of athletics action, many of our finest athletes in primary school competed in the Galway County and City Sports which were held on adjacent days in Dangan recently.
Craughwell NS and Oranmore Boys NS have competed in the Galway City Sports for many years along with many other schools from both city and county. This year a second event Galway County Sports was introduced but both schools stuck with the city event for this year anyway. Clarinbridge NS and Kileeneen NS took part in the County Sports day. There was remarkable success for athletes from the club across both days.
On Monday at the Galway City Sports, Craughwell NS had some great results with Cian Waters winning the U13 Boys 100m sprint, Laura Cunningham taking the bronze medal in the U13 Girls 100m, Ailbhe Miskella taking silver in the U11 Girls 400m with Mia Waters 5th, Finbar McFadden 4th in the U11 Boys 400m, Emily Miskella and Rebekah Flynn taking 1st and 2nd place in the U9 Girls 400m.
The school had its best day ever in the relays with 4 sets of medals and 2 4th place finishes out of the 6 events. The U9 girls team took gold with Rebecca Lynch, Molly Sullivan, Emily Miskella, Rebekah Flynn and Alex Slamas. The U11 boys team took silver with Kody McCan, Cian Garman, Finbar McFadden, Kevin Molloy and Kyle Moorhead.
