Craughwell AC’s younger age groups descended on Athlone IT in their scores for the rescheduled Galway Indoor Championships where were held on Sunday for the U9, U10 and U11 age groups. Due to the pandemic, it was the first indoors championships for most of these athletes with only a small number of the U11 group having competed here 2 years ago as U9s. Lorraine and Jade star at Leinster Indoors

The club made a rare appearance at the Leinster Indoor Championships held in Athlone yesterday where Jade Moorhead took part in the Junior Women’s High Jump and Lorraine Delaney in the Senior Women’s 400m. Jade was on in the morning and entered the competition at her opening height of 1.55m when all but 2 of the competitors had exited. Great Fun at the ‘Craughwell Indoor Olympics’

Our U11s training group descended on Athlone International Arena on Sunday for the inaugural ‘Craughwell Indoor Olympics’ on Sunday. The event was a team event with the athletes split into 3 evenly balanced teams and competing across 5 events – 60m, 400m, shot put, long jump and high jump with loads of fun and some great performances. €120,000 Sports Capital Grant Announced!

Craughwell AC are over the moon with today’s announcement of a €120,000 Sports Capital Grant towards surfacing the club’s 400m track with an Olympic-standard tartan layer. With so many people working so hard within the club on coaching and committees and freely giving of their time to 100s of children and adults, it’s so encouraging to get such a huge injection of funding for our facilities. The club had a large contingent of athletes in action yesterday with some wonderful performances at the National Indoor Combined Events Championships in Athlone IT. Juvenile/student membership renewal is now open for the year 2022 – see here for online link. As the Galway Indoors are on the weekend of 7/8th January and entries are due in by January 3rd, we need to have all participants registered for 2022 by then.
