Super Performances at Galway U16-19 Relays

Super Performances at Galway U16-19 Relays

The Galway relays took place for the older age groups Thursday evening in Dangan. While the need to hold them on a separate evening to the rest of the track and field was due to the pandemic, it actually turned out to be a great way of doing it as it was a short and snappy evening and athletes did not have to hang around all day to wait for relays. Well done to Iain Shaw and Galway County Board…

Another 5+ metre weekend for Laura

Another 5+ metre weekend for Laura

Laura Cunningham’s good form in the long jump continued this weekend with a leap of 5.03m to come within a whisker of making the final 8 in the women’s long jump at the National Senior Track & Field Championships in Santry. The blustery conditions were not helpful to the jumpers, with most back a little from their personal bests. Normally a trailing wind would help the jumps but not on this occasion as the wind was coming and going, making…

Ciaran and Shauna turn the first sod!

Construction work has started on Craughwell AC’s 400m track development. A low key sod-turning ceremony was held last weekend due to the COVID restrictions and it was fitting that the honours were performed by Ciaran Cannon and Shauna Bocquet. Shauna and her dad Loic spearheaded a fund-raising campaign for the 400m track last autumn raising over €49000 in the process for the track, with Ciaran contributing over €7000 of that in a charity cycle.  Ciaran has also been instrumental in advising the club on many successful grant applications towards…
