Best of luck to juveniles in National Indoor Finals

Best of luck to juveniles in National Indoor Finals

We have a sizeable contingent of athletes travelling to Nenagh for the juvenile indoor championships on 25/26 March and 1/2 April..

Please contact Michael Tobin if transport needed on any of the dates. There likely will be a bus travelling on the day of the relays on 2 April – but cars will be the mode of transport for other days.

The following are the athletes who have qualified for the finals and the times of their events. Relay teams are still been finalised but most athletes already know if they are on a relay team or not.

Best of luck to all our athletes – we have some fantastic talent in the club. Enjoy your participation in the National Finals. Remember you can only control how well you perform yourself – not how well everyone around you performs, so try to set a Personal Best in your event and treat a medal as a nice bonus!

Please arrive in Nenagh 1 hour before your event – to check in, collect your number etc. Athletes have to collect their own number when they arrive at the track. Do this immediately you arrive. You also have to check in when announced. For track events, this is in the call room adjacent to the track. For field events, this is at the event – i.e. at long jump pit, shot putt area, high jump mat.

As usual, please note

  • You must wear your club singlet to be allowed to take part.
  • Please bring packed lunch and warm clothes (coat + woolly hat).
  • Bring 2 drinks as its a long day – no fizzy drinks. Drink mouthfuls regularly during the day.
  • Snack regularly during the day (e.g. half a sandwich, biscuit, etc)  so that you don’t get hungry and don’t eat a lot of food just before an event.
  • Try not to eat during the hour before your event.
  • Make sure that you have small spikes in your shoes (i.e. 5mm).
  • Stretch and stay warm between events.
  • Stay warm between jumps/throws – put back on tracksuit, do small drills etc to keep muscles warm.
