Maeve Curley travelled to the Isle of Man at the weekend to compete in the annual Manx Harriers Race Walking Championships. Maeve was competing in the U17 Women 3km walk. Putting in a fantastic performance, Maeve finished just 1 second behind one of her main rivals in Ireland, Fiona Dennehy from Kilkenny. Fiona won the English AAA Championships last year and for Maeve to finish so close to her was a huge performance, setting a new PB in the process for this distance of 16.16. Most people struggle to run that fast, never mind walk!

Maeve's time was an incredible 50 seconds faster than her previous indoor best for this distance set in January 2008 and 15 seconds faster than her previous outdoor best for the same distance set last July.
