Big Victory for James Cahalane at Connacht Primary Schools Cross Country
Athletes from Craughwell AC had some remarkable performances last weekend in the Connacht Primary Schools Cross Country Championships which were held in Dangan. The races got underway with the Junior Girls 800m, where Craughwell NS put in an outstanding performance with with 6 runners placing in the top 60 and 5 in the top 30 – which yielded a score of 96 points and the silver medals (21 Mia Waters, 22 Roisin Hansbury, 26 Jane Trehy, 27 Sarah McCartin, 28 Ailbhe Miskella, 59 Emma Urquhart and sub Beth Sullivan). It was a particularly strong run from Roisin who seems to be gaining strength with each successive race. Ballymana NS placed 9th with a score of 246 pts (30 Lenagh Gilligan, 51 Eva Kelly, 80 Caoimhe Gilligan, 85 Sinead Keane, 99 Ciara Horan, 105 Sarah Kelly) while Bryna Milton (Scoil Mhuire Clarinbridge) placed 35th.
