After a bit of a break, this weekend sees a welcome return to racing around Galway with Castledaley 10k, followed next week by Loughrea 5. To save me typing can you head on over to Micks details of it on the Athenry website. The race starts at 2PM and we really encourage club members to take part in supporting this very worthy cause in what should be an annual event. It’s fantastic to have a race so near to our own doorsteps so it’s important to support it or it mightn’t happen again!!.

Of course nobody will need any encouragement or reminders to do Loughrea which is on next Sunday week. Full details are here on the Loughrea website. Loughrea is arguably the most prestigous race west of the Shannon and the highlight of many people’s running year. Check out the video below which is from the event last year. Loughrea is one of those few races that manages to give something to every level of competitor.

As you can see from the impressive prizelist to the large entry to the top quality competitors (the UK#1 female will be taking part this year), Loughrea is an unmissable running event.
