Field of Dreams Becoming Reality!

Field of Dreams Becoming Reality!

Yesterday marked another historic day for the club with the completion of the line-marking on our 6-lane 400m track and our adjoining 6-lane 110m sprint track. It is possibly the only track in the country where 12 sprinters could line up in individual lanes in the same race. The lining and tartan layer were done by Sean Campbell’s Sports Ground Specialists from Co. Antrim while the groundwork for the 400m track was done by local contractor Seamus Coleman. Lorraine Delaney…

Thank You Andy, TJ and Jane-Ann

Thank You Andy, TJ and Jane-Ann

A big thank you to Andy Talbot and TJ Beatty and Jane-Ann Meehan for putting down the accurate markings on our 400m tarmacadem track today. Its now marked from the start line and every 100m and also a line at every 50m so it will be real handy for athletes running reps. Andy and TJ are both official AAI/IAAF track measurers and the task required a lot of steel tapes and a lot of time. It was super to get…

Juvenile Membership Renewal and Track Update

Juvenile membership for those on a September renewal cycle is now open, i.e. for those renewing Sept 2021 to Aug 2022. Ciaran and Shauna turn the first sod!

Construction work has started on Craughwell AC’s 400m track development. A low key sod-turning ceremony was held last weekend due to the COVID restrictions and it was fitting that the honours were performed by Ciaran Cannon and Shauna Bocquet. Shauna and her dad Loic spearheaded a fund-raising campaign for the 400m track last autumn raising over €49000 in the process for the track, with Ciaran contributing over €7000 of that in a charity cycle.  Ciaran has also been instrumental in advising the club on many successful grant applications towards…

Exciting times – track construction begins!

Exciting times – track construction begins!

The club has the funds in place to get it to a kerbed level ready for tarmacadem. But the tarmacadem layer can only go ahead if we can raise approx 50k in donations and loans from parents and members. Loans are the fastest…

Craughwell AC Park Track Update

Craughwell AC Park Track Update

The Craughwell Juvenille AC AGM took place over Zoom last Thursday evening and aside from the usual officer elections, the main topic up for discussion was a vote on the facility/track next steps!  As we all know, this was only made possible thanks to the drive and inspiration of Shauna and all the Bocquet family and the support of the entire Galway community through the 42K Challenge which brought some much needed spark and fun to an otherwise quite dreary…
