Craughwell AC’s Summer Camp will be on July 24th-28th 2023. We always aim to make this a brilliant experience for the kids, giving them lots of healthy exercise and and a good platform to make friends. Yesterday saw the achievement of a huge milestone for the club with the completion of the tartan layer on our 400m track, with only the track lining remaining to be done now. When we bought the land back in 2014, it was always the dream that one day we’d have our own 400m track on it. Our most prolific medal winner is Cathriona Farrell with 13 National indoor individual medals, followed closely by Evan Hallinan on 12, with Sinead Treacy (11), Jerry Keary (9) and Laura Cunningham (7) completing the top five. What a weekend the club had at the National Juvenile Indoors. After an incredible Saturday where the club won 9 medals, the success story continued on Sunday when our athletes added another 9 medals with some outstanding performances. Another incredible day for Craughwell AC on Day 2 of the National Indoor Championships saw one GOLD, THREE Silver and FIVE Bronze medals in the full range of events from High-Jump to Middle-Distance, Sprints, Throws and Walks, and a host of other excellent performances. The first weekend of the National Indoor Track and Field Championships took place on Saturday and there were some great results for Craughwell AC Athletes. The first weekend was mainly relays, but there were also some field events. Craughwell AC got this years Nationals off to a fantastic start with TWO Gold Medals, ONE Silver and a host of top-6 performances. In Liverpool on saturday, Declan O’Connell lined up to represent Ireland and Clarin College Athenry in the SIAB International Schools Cross Country. Declan’s strong team of eight stood against the best of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. The pinnacle of Irish Schools Cross Country running took place in Waterford on Saturday and five Craughwell AC Athletes made the long trek to represent their Schools. The one type of Fox-hunting I can get behind is the annual intervarsity Cross Country contest which takes place each year at this time.
