Great Team Spirit in National League

Great Team Spirit in National League

Despite having many of our top athletes being away on training camps in Portugal and Kenya, and top coach Mike Tobin away in New Zealand, we still managed to field decent male and female league teams for day 1 of the Indoor league. The national league is a team competition where clubs compete over a range of disciplines and has been a good developmental competition for the club over the decades – basically it’s great craic! The indoor variant of…

The fields of Athenry saw a battle of Craughwell’s two Novices Silver medallists: William Fitzgerald who won Silver this year and Jamie Fallon who…

Slip-sliding in Glorious Ballymote!

Slip-sliding in Glorious Ballymote!

The day was bright, sunny and cold in Ballymote, Co.Sligo for the final day of the Connacht Championships.  Though the weather was mostly dry, the course was damp and cut up fairly well as the day went on for the uneven aged finals.   Anthony Boyle was Craughwell’s sole competitor in the Senior race and he performed strongly, coming 11th in the field after a great battle with legendary Mayoman Conor McGloughlin. The race saw a Galway man crowned Connacht Champion…

What a Special Day for Craughwell AC!

What a Special Day for Craughwell AC!

What a fantastic and special day the club had last Saturday at its second attempt to break the world record for a 12-hour relay. Running a relay continuously for 12 hours is a major undertaking and it was wonderful to see the huge effort from right across the club and the community to pull it off. We didn’t break the record unfortunately but we did break the fund-raising record for a 12-hour relay with close to €20,000 raised from the…

Hills Galore in glorious Westport Connacht Champs

Westport House in Mayo was the venue for the Connacht Even Ages Cross Country.  Though the sun blazed down, the course was muddy in spots and incredibly hilly and tough. It consisted of 1 km laps, each containing very steep hills and sharp descents.   There were some brilliant performances from the travelling Craughwell AC Athletes as usual. Probably the best result of the day came from our u14 boys team who won Gold in the 3km in impressive fashion…

Fierce Competiton at Connacht Schools Cross Country 2023
