Sunday was a big day on the Athletics Calendar with the All Ireland Even Ages and Senior Cross Country in Kilkenny and the Schools Multi-Events All-Ireland in Athlone. Students Shine at IUAA Road Relays 2023

The picturesque grounds of the historic Maynooth University were once again host to the Irish University Association’s road relay championships.  This is a competition in which the best of the domestic talent around the country do battle running laps of a circuit which is a little over 1 mile.  The weather was bright and the colours couldn’t have looked more autumnal. Shauna on the biggest Stage

World Championships Paris It was a historic week for Craughwell AC as Shauna Bocquet became its first athlete to compete at a major championships at Senior level. Shauna was competing in the World Para Athletics Games in Paris against the very best in the world.  19-year old Shauna competed in the 1500m, the 100m and the 400m. Moorhead takes Bronze in National U23s

On Sunday Craughwell AC had four competitors in the u23 championships.  Kyle Moorhead was again one of the stand-out athletes – taking the 800m race by the scruff of the neck and leading for the first lap which was run in 60s, a relatively cautious pace for these athletes.  At 500m it really kicked off as the surges came thick and fast.  Kyle did everything possible and came away with a fantastic Bronze for his efforts ahead of some big…

The Irish Milers Club series of graded meets are the premier non-championship events in the country and the second event this year was on UCD’s fantastic new track in Belfield on 10th June. Jamie Fallon was first in action for Craughwell in the 5000m and he smashed the club record with a fine 8:19.57 clocking. Wet and Windy at Dublin Graded Meet #2

A small group from the club took part in day 2 of the Dublin Graded Meets on Wednesday in Tallaght in windy and wet conditions. Jamie Fallon had a fine run in the men’s 1500m race, staying in the pack for the early laps before moving into the lead at the bell and outkicked from around 150m out to take a fine 2nd place in an impressive 4:00.11 in the windy conditions. Miskey leads the way in National Senior Indoors 2023

The National Senior Indoor championships took place this weekend in Abbotstown and featured some excellent performances from Craughwell AC Athletes.  Jack Miskella made Sunday’s final in the 1500m by running 4.01 in a hard-fought heat on Saturday.  The final had a very evenly matched field and the race was very closely packed.  In a ferocious sub-60s last 400m, Jack moved from last place to 5th with a near-pb of 3:56.09. The Craughwell Senior Women’s team had another outstanding day yesterday in round 2 of the National League held in Athlone Indoor Arena.
