Handicap Chase Final Results

Handicap Chase Final Results

On a perfect sunday morning for running, the Handicap chase concluded in great fashion.  It was a day dominated by late arrivals to the series.  In her first race, Fidelma Healy-Eames ran a great race to exceed her handicap predictions by 14 minutes – coming home in 70:35.  Among the ladies, Fidelma was followed home by GCH's Bernie Kelly (45:58) and Craughwell's Dervilla Darcy (54:32). In a genuinely great performance, Diarmuid Quill managed to shatter his previous PB by two minutes…

17 hardy souls turned up early Sunday morning to run the 3rd race in the Craughwell Handicap Chase 10k Series. Nice weather conditions early in the morning were replaced by some nasty showers shortly before the race started, with these easing to a steady drizzle by the time 8.30am arrived.

Results of Handicap Race 2

Due probably to the bank holiday weekend, numbers were reduced slightly this week with 20 runners turning up on a perfect morning for a 10k.  It was bright, dry and cool, without a hint of a breeze – perfect conditions for setting a personal best!    The first athlete home was Tony Fitzpatrick in a fantastic personal best, almost 2½ minutes faster than two weeks ago.  Tony had set himself a target of 50 minutes for this race and he smashed…

10K Fever – Handicaps for next Craughwell Race

10K Fever – Handicaps for next Craughwell Race

10K fever is gripping the country – the National 10K's were on last weekend and Craughwell had one runner (me) who came 63rd in the overall race, in a time of 35:30 on the official clock.  The standard was very high.  Congratulations to Athenry AC who were fifth team on the day and had the high honour of winning individual honours through Paul McNamara for the second year in a row.  More on this at AthenryAC.com. Of course, that is…

Craughwell Handicap Chase Race 1 Results

Craughwell Handicap Chase Race 1 Results

Twenty five grinning runners turned out for the inaugural Craughwell Handicap Chase on a slightly misty Easter Saturday Morning.  Luckily for everyone, the drizzle eased off and stopped by race time and in the end it was a fine morning for a run – no wind and perfect temperatures.   Due to some administrative teething trouble and an errant runner or two, there was a little confusion with some of the times/places. The results in blue below are ones that we…

Craughwell Handicap Chase – Race 1 Handicaps

Well the entries are almost all in, and the handicaps are below.  I’ve been pretty busy of late, so please let me know if I’ve missed your name or if your handicap is wildly off.  I’ll be adjusting all the handicaps after the first run anyhow. This series is an opportunity to train on a reasonably accurately measured course, which will be marked out for the morning.  You can run the distance as you like – walking every few miles,…
