Congratulations to Cathriona Farrell who was selected for her first senior international to compete on the Irish team who travel to Estonia tomorrow to compete in the European Team Cup. Cathriona will be competing in the high jump on Sunday at 4pm Irish time. Her selection is well deserved after a strong indoor season where Cathriona broke the Irish Universities record for indoor high jump when leaping 1.81m in Athlone in February (pictured below) and proceeded to record a new outdoor personal best of 1.80m at the AAI Games recently in Santry.

Having been routinely selected to represent her country at juvenile level, hopefully this is the first of many senior internationals for Cathriona.  Cathriona’s jumps place her as the 6th best ever female high jumper in Ireland – that’s ever since athletics started in Ireland many 100s of years ago!
