Claire Ryder Wins Silver For Ireland On International Debut!!
Making her international debut in Cardiff on Sunday as part of the Irish U16 Schools team, Claire Ryder put in a great early season series of jumps to record an indoor PB of 4.88m to take the silver medal for the Irish team and in the process help the Irish girls to victory in the team event and the combined boys/girls team to second place. Struggling with her mark a little on her first 2 jumps, Claire's best jump of the day was actually her 2nd attempt where she recorded 4.79m jump despite being behind the board and losing possibly 30cm off her jump. Her 4.88m came on her 4th and final jump to put her into 2nd place. The competition was great experience for Claire who worked hard for this event and she can look forward with confidence to the remainder of the indoor season. Well done also to GCH's Alanna Lally who won the 800m with an indoor PB of 2:18. Its fantastic to see two Galway girls on the same Irish team, both of whom attend the Pres Athenry. |
