Please note the above dates in your diary and if possible, also provide them to co-ordinators of other sports/activities that your child is involved in – in order to hopefully avoid a clash with fixtures in that other sport/activity.While no one is obliged to do cross-country, athletes are strongly encouraged to take part in the training and races as it is of great benefit to their health and fitness levels.Training sessions are at the following times:-
Thursday nights at Craughwell NS (Packy Martyn's field at rear of school)
– 6.30pm-7.30pm: U8s, U9s and U10s
– 7.00pm-8.00pm: U11s, U12s and U13s
This session is open to all athletes in above age groups.
Tuesday nights at Ardrahan GAA pitch
– 7.30pm-8.30pm: all age groups
This session is initially intended to help increase participation from Ardrahan and surrounding areas. After a number of weeks, selected age groups from Craughwell may also attend or alternatively a 2nd session will be introduced in Craughwell either on Tuesdays or at the weekend.Athletes already part of the Craughwell AC sessions in Loughrea for U14 and older athletes should continue to go to the Loughrea sessions and not switch to Ardrahan. Cross-country sessions will be available as part of those sessions. For anyone who requires more information on the Loughrea sessions, please contact Seamus Creaven at 086 8369338.
Please note also that parents should balance the number of training sessions that their children attend, with other sporting activities that they participate in. If they have too much on in a particular week, skip some activities – try not to skip the same one all the time as its good for the kids to be involved in multiple sports.
Finally, a reminder that the club collects its training fees for Sept-Dec in the first few weeks of September. Earlier this year, the club moved from collecting €5 per month per child to collecting €20 per child for the 4 months. So please liaise with the age group coordinator for the appropriate age group regarding this.
