Craughwell AC’s National League Team who placed 8th in the National Finals on Saturday

Craughwell AC put in a super series of performances in the final of the National Indoor Club League which took place in the brand new National Indoor Arena in Abbotstown in Dublin on Saturday. With the Arena just opened, it was the very first competition to be held there – a nice piece of history for the athletes who were in action.
Lorraine Delaney led the way in the competitive stakes with a fine 1.50m clearance in the high jump to claim second place and a point’s score of 7. Points are awarded from 9 for the winner, 7 for 2nd place, 6 for 3rd etc. down to 1 point for 8th place and the cumulative total from all of the events provides the team score. Sineád Treacy placed 6th in the 200m in a time of 26.49 and 5th in the long jump with a leap of 4.82. Sarah Finnegan placed 6th in the 60m hurdles in a time of 10.55 and 5th in the triple jump with an impressive 10.17.
Ciana Reidy placed 5th in the pole vault with a best of 2.20, setting a new club indoor record in the process. Caoilin Milton placed 6th in the 400m in a time of 65.24. knocking a second of her PB for the event. The versatile Laura Cunningham placed 5th in the shot putt with an 8.18m PB which ranks her 3rd on the club’s record list behind Katie O’Donoghue (8.41) and Maria McNamara (8.23), and placed 7th in the 60m sprint in a time of 8.33 which ranks her 5th on the club’s all-time lists behind Sineád Treacy (7.87), Katie O’Donoghue (8.12), Tara McNally (8.13) and Michelle Duggan (8.16).
In the final event of the day, the club ran an impressive time of 1.48.26 (3rd fastest ever for the club) to place 5th in the 4x200m relay with Sineád Treacy, Caoilin Milton, Lorraine Delaney and Laura Cunningham.
