Craughwell AC Top the Table in Round 2 of League

Craughwell AC’s women’s team topped the leaderboard in Round 2 of the National Indoor League in Athlone at the weekend.

The club took maximum points from the first 3 events of the day with Sineád Treacy taking victory in the 200m, Cathriona Farrell taking high jump gold and Rachel Finnegan winning the triple jump to yield the maximum points of 24. Ciara Greene continued the strong club performance with a 3rd place finish in the 1500m to add 5 more points and Rachel Finnegan completed the scoring with a 5th place finish in the 400m to add 3 points for a estimated total score of 32 points, 7 clear of the league leaders St Abbans from Laois. The score moves the club into 2nd place on the leaderboard after 2 rounds with the final to take place on March 16th.

A youthful men’s team competed well also at the same event with Conor Duggan and Aidan Conneely placing 8th and 9th in the 200m, Conor also did well in his debut in the 400m with a 7th place finish. Matthew McKernan took 5th place in the triple jump while Damian O’Boyle swapped his track spikes for a rare appearance in the high jump where he placed 6th.
