
Final Day of National Track & Field
Craughwell AC U16 Boys 4x100m Relay

The final day of the National juvenile track and field Championships took place in Tullamore last Saturday where the club had 9 teams in action in the National relays.
Highest placed finishers on the day were the U12 boys who placed 6th in a time of 57.40 (Kieran O’Connor, Lukas Schukat, Liam Mulveen, Conor Hoade, Liam McDonagh) and the U16 boys who placed 7th in their 4x100m in a time of 48.94 (Louis Molloy, Jerry Keary, Oisin Lyons, Daniel Callanan-Forde) in the process knocking almost 2 seconds off the club’s U16 record. In the girls events, the U16 girls placed the highest with a 9th place finish in a time of 53.55 (Caoilin Milton, Lorraine Delaney, Ciana Reidy, Laura Cunningham) while both the U15 and U14 teams took 10th place in their events with the U15s setting a club U15 record in a time of 53.19 (Mia Waters, Alison Leahy, Finola Kelly and Siona Lawless) and the U14s running an impressive 55.20 (Mia Waters, Freya Bohan, Leanagh Gilligan, Eva Kelly, Caoimhe Gilligan).

The U13 boys fielded 2 teams who placed 13th (Padraig Martyn, Pascal Walsh, Jack Fitzgerald, Shaun Gilligan, Conor Trehy) and 15th (Liam Mulveen, Jack Farrell, Gavin Kelly, Conor Trehy, Liam McDonagh) in their 4x100m in times of 58.97 and 60.10. The U14 boys team of Alex Evans, Sean Connaughton, Shaun Gilligan, Kyle Moorhead and Ciaran Connaughton were unlucky to be disqualified for a zone fault in their heat. The U12 girls team of Anna Molloy, Eve Ayo Rebecca Lynch, Hannah Hynes and Rebekah Flynn placed 15th in their 4x100m in a time of 61.61.

At the same venue, several athletes from the club took part in the National Juvenile B Championships. Conor Hoade leaped an impressive 4.22m to take the gold medal in the U12 Boys long jump and also took the silver medal in the high jump with 1.15m, while Shauna Tobin took the bronze medal in the U16 Girls long jump with 3.92m. Also featuring in the top eight on the day, Finbarr McFadden placed 6th in the U14 Boys 800m in 2:33.07 and Eve Ayo did likewise in the final of the U12 Girls 60m in a time of 9.27 having earlier placed 2nd in the heats in a time of 9.20.
Rebekah Flynn took 9th place in the U12 600m in 2:00.60.and finished in 12th in the long jump with 3.50m. Rebecca Lynch placed 13th in the U12 long jump with 3.33 while Emily Rooney placed 19th with 2.84m and 7th in her 60m heat in a time of 10.98.

Meanwhile on the following day, several athletes from the club representing Galway in the National League competition including Sineád Treacy, Tara McNally, Michelle Duggan, Cathriona Farrell and Sineád Gaffney. Official results are not yet available from the event, Cathriona jumped excepptionally well clearing 1.75m on her first attempt off a short run-up of 7 steps while Sinead G placed 2nd in the 800m.
